In my last post I discussed the fact that my son's school has zero % ADD, or ADHD, and the fact that the study technology of L.Ron Hubbard is the method we use for success. Well, I thought about this some more and the fact that perhaps it could be thought that we have kids who fit the "ADD/ADHD" criteria but just have not labeled them because we don't believe in it. The test of any technology is if it gets results.
In my son's school, passing grade is......100%! Think of it- not one student moves on to the next level of study or the next component of learning, until any difficulty whatsoever with what has just been studied has been resolved and the student can fully apply the material to life. Testing does not have to do with memorization of facts, rather the student is questioned in such a way as to test his ability to apply. He can not pass unless he has full comprehension, not just robotic memorization of fact. And every student does pass in a reasonable amount of time. Sounds sort of refreshing, doesn't it?
A student who studies in this fashion does not feel jittery, hyper, short of attention, or have behavior problems. A student who never "passes" one subject until he fully understands what has just been studied is a joy to be around. A composed, confident, happy individual.
